Jam Making Workshop: Pumpkin Butter
Making jam is a time-honoured tradition and one of the tastiest ways to preserve an abundant harvest. Pumpkins are now in season and abundant.
This class will teach you how to make a simple pumpkin spread designed for canning. You will learn the difference between a spread and a jam. A spread is preferred by some as there is no added pectin. Pumpkin jam makes a wonderful addition to plain yogurt, dips, even peanut butter and so much more! Come along and learn another great way to preserve your autumn harvest.
Once you know how to work with one fruit, you can jam or can anything else. You will leave knowing the basics and with lots of tips for making all kinds of jams. You will feel prepared and ready to preserve any of our local, abundant summer and fall fruit harvests.
All materials will be provided and you will take home a half pint jar of jam that you have made in class. It will taste so much better than any store bought jam!
